PANDIT KHAIRNAR
About the Artist
Born in 1968, Pandit Khairnar received his Diploma in Art Teaching in Aurangabad in 1989, after which he received another Diploma in Fine Arts from the L.S. Raheja School of Art, Mumbai, in 1992.
As an artist, Khairnar has always been interested in the aspect of ‘time, space and form’, but his work is not so much about these concerns as they are about what he observes and how he perceives the world around him. Through deep contemplation of these experiences, there comes a transformation of what is perceived, and these wordly experiences take a visual form. His work is often mistakenly seen as abstract/non-representational, but he strongly believes that if his works were to be categorised, they should be instead seen as representational, though they are devoid of ‘images of human figure or any recognisable forms'.
